Myodesopies
MYODESOPIES (also called: vitreous mobile bodies, flying flies, floaters)is a phenomenon that follows the deterioration of the vitreous body, a gelatinous tissue that occupies the posterior segment of the eyeball.
This gel either due to aging or other causes (myopia, trauma, inflammation, dehydration) loses its integrity with disorganization between the liquid and solid parts. The appearance of myodesopias indicates the beginning of this disintegration.
Mobile bodies are particularly evident when the patient looks at bright, clear backgrounds (white walls, blue sky) and can have different shapes(flies of various sizes, rings, lines, spider webs, dots, alone or in combination) and different densities depending on the extent of gel disintegration.
